Terrafirma was formed in 1988, originally called "Ocean". Members where Colin Ng, Richard Galaviz, Jim Glieck & Hugo Galaviz. In 1990 Jim left the band where he met singer Gary Lopez. After a short stint in a band called "Look" they both left. Jim rejoined "Ocean" and lobbied to have Gary join the band. Richard had played with Gary in a band called "Azimuth" which was latter called "AZ". The five members wrote many songs and enjoyed local popularity in the Whittier, Ca area. In 1992 the band changed it's name to "TerraFirma". Shortly after Colin Ng retired from the music scene. This website was originally created to be the bands Homepage. Then the band broke up in late 1995 but latter reformed in the summer of 1996. 1997 had many ups and downs. Before recording Jim Gleich went on a hiatis from the band. The band proceeded with the recording anyway and recorded five songs written by Gary Lopez. Jim was replaced with Frank Schultz. Frank then left the band abrutply. Sometime afterward Hugo joined a band called War Crime.
That's where we had thought our story ended.

Fate has many twists and turns.

Throughout all the years a very good friend and one time member of the band, Keyboardist, Dan Gaudin was involved in a near fatal accident. On Christmas Day Gary Lopez drove to see his old friend and was very worried about the condition he would be in.
Well, he came out walking... on one crutch! He then played for Gary an earlier recording of the band on Mini-Disc.

He is quoted as saying, "This is the stuff!"
Hugo and Gary then attended the NAMM show and discussed the possibilities. Everything was happening just at the right time. So the vacation was over and the sound of Terrafirma can once again be heard in the Uptown Area.

TerraFirma will celebrate it's tenth anniversary in the year 2000 with a CD to be released Christmas of 1999.

TerraFirma is....

Jim Gleich

Dan Gaudin

Richard Galaviz

Hugo Galaviz

Gary Lopez
